Help!
Get the most out of HardMail AI, read all of the following:
- This is the first release of HardMail AI, it has the typical email client features to send and receive email,
including attachment support. It also has the ability to manually or automatically process received email with AI,
which is a huge time saver. Most email is overly verbose. AI can fix that
- HardMail AI has been tested with Gmail, Outlook (personal), AOL, and Yahoo.
Other email providers can be manually configured.
Support for Outlook for work accounts is pending but not guareenteed.
- Use of AI requires you have an OpenAI API account, see Settings within the program or go to
https://platform.openai.com/account/api-keys
- Multiple recipients: enter an email address, then hit enter
- Hover the mouse over the "From" email (far left) to see a popup of various details about the email
- In general hover the mouse over various things to get a "tooltip" of helpful information
- How to send attachment(s): during Compose use Ctrl-a to add an attachment
- Received attachment(s) are automatically saved to your Downloads folder
- Double-click on an email subject to open/close the email

Encryption
-
Encryption requires both parties are using HardMail AI because encryption and decryption
are done locally, not on some remote server
-
Before encryption is enabled both parties must sent an email to each other.
This is ensure that both parties have the others public key.
The HardMail AI signature is required to communicate the public key (at least the first time)
-
Once the above requirements are met encryption is automatic.
Check your email providers web interface to see what encrypted email looks like
-
HardMail AI is not open source but the encryption code can be
viewed here
Note seeing the code does not make it any less secure (it's all in the math)
-
Currently only email sent to a single person is encrypted. A future version will support multiple recipients
Attachments are not encrypted; the subject line is encrypted.
Future
- Support other AI services such Claude.ai and self hosted
- More AI features like automatic AI reply and AI review of outgoing email
- Support for POP servers, if anyone is still using those
- Font and color selections
- Organizing emails into groups
- Other stuff to be determined
